The Extent of Jordanian Football Coaches’ Knowledge of the Use of Artificial Intelligence and Nanotechnology in Developing the Game of Football

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of awareness and knowledge among Jordanian football coaches on the importance of artificial intelligence and nanotechnology and their possible use in the development of the game, development of the coaches themselves and development of their teams through modern scientific technologies. Ten elite football coaches in Jordan formed the study sample. Through the telephone method, the survey methods were used during which the questions were posed to the coaches.

The study found that the coaches were significantly weak in their knowledge of these technologies and their present ability to use them. Statistical analysis revealed a vast chasm between the knowledge owned by the coaches regarding the use of artificial intelligence and nanotechnology and the positive developments achieved by these scientific fields in serving football in general.

As part of the training courses conducted for the coaches, further, it has been recommended to teach AI and nano along with adding a related course to bachelor’s programs for students in faculties of physical education.
