Abstract

This study aims to examine the practicality of a Sociology learning module grounded in Sasak local wisdom and designed using a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach to enhance senior high school students’ social skills. The product’s practicality was evaluated through both a limited trial and a large-scale field trial. The limited trial involved 27 students and 5 teachers, while the large-scale trial was conducted with 31 students at SMA Negeri 1 Masbagik and 30 students at SMA Negeri 2 Selong. Data were collected through teacher and student response questionnaires, classroom implementation observation sheets, and reflective notes. The findings indicate that, in the limited trial, the module was rated as highly practical by both teachers and students. Consistent results were also obtained in the large-scale trial, in which the module likewise achieved a highly practical category. Qualitative evidence further revealed that the module was easy to use, supported by clear instructions, visually appealing, and highly relevant to students’ cultural experiences. These findings confirm that a Sociology module integrating Sasak local wisdom within a CRT framework is feasible and appropriate as an innovative instructional resource. The study suggests that integrating local culture into teaching materials can strengthen contextual, inclusive, and meaningful learning, while also providing an empirical basis for developing culturally responsive instructional resources in multicultural secondary education contexts in Indonesia.
