Innovating Physical Education Teacher Training Programs in the Context of General Education Reform in Vietnam: Evidence from a Case Study at Can Tho University

Abstract
Educational reform in Vietnam necessitates innovation in physical education teacher training using an outcomes-based approach, in line with the 2018 General Education Program and the trend of higher education reform. This study investigates the current situation and aims to improve the physical education teacher training program at Can Tho University (CTU), Vietnam. The study utilizes document analysis, interviews, sociological surveys, and statistical mathematics to address its research objectives effectively. The research has improved the physical education teacher training program using an outcome-based approach. The program enhances digital skills, innovation, sustainable education, and professional development, contributing to improved training quality and meeting the requirements of educational reform in the context of international integration. Improving the training program contributes to enhancing the quality and adaptability of physical education teacher training to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program and the trends in higher education reform.
