Abstract

The study re-specifies the outcome of strategic knowledge management in educational institutions by replacing institutional performance/reputation with Sustainability of Educational Institute (SEI). SEI is modeled as a second-order construct reflected by two first-order dimensions: Academic Sustainability (8 items) and Knowledge and Innovation Sustainability (10 items). Strategic Knowledge Management (KM) and Academic Performance (AP) are retained as antecedent constructs. Following the analytical style of a hierarchical CFA-SEM study, the paper integrates the previously established exploratory factor analysis (EFA) for KM and AP, develops a higher-order measurement model, and estimates a structural model. The hypothesized model supports a positive direct effect of KM on SEI, a positive effect of KM on AP, and a positive effect of AP on SEI, indicating partial mediation. The revised model offers a sustainability-centric explanation of how knowledge capabilities and academic outputs jointly support long-term institutional continuity, relevance, and innovation resilience.
