Hemodialysis Management In A Patient With Methanol Intoxication: A Case Report

Abstract

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol or H₃COH, is a toxic alcohol with the characteristics of a clear liquid that is colorless at room temperature and has a sweet smell (Allata et al., 2023; Barceloux et al., 2002). Methanol is obtained through the distillation process of wood and used as an ingredient in mummy processing (Nekoukar et al., 2021). As time went by, methanol is now used as a mixture of raw materials for various commercial industries and household purposes such as formaldehyde, dyes, vehicle fuels, cleaning fluids, and handrubs (Allata et al., 2023; Mousavi-Roknabadi et al., 2022).
