Abstract

Technological turbulence has become a defining feature of contemporary digital business environments, reshaping entrepreneurial behavior, social norms, and ethical practices. Rapid developments in platform architectures, algorithmic governance, data driven business models, and regulatory expectations increasingly mediate how entrepreneurs create value and how legitimacy and acceptable conduct are evaluated. This study examines how technological turbulence influences ethical and normative dynamics in digital entrepreneurship by integrating insights from entrepreneurship research, platform governance, and business ethics. The analysis demonstrates that ethical outcomes in digital business environments are not solely the result of individual moral judgment but emerge from structural conditions that shape incentives, distribute accountability, and accelerate behavioral adaptation. Governance volatility, manipulative market practices, contested data consent, algorithmic opacity, and uneven entrepreneurial capabilities are identified as interconnected mechanisms through which technological turbulence reshapes entrepreneurial conduct and norm evolution. The findings indicate that rapid technological change destabilises normative reference points, encouraging adaptive strategies that prioritise visibility, growth, and short term performance, which may normalise ethically questionable practices over time. Data intensive marketing systems and automated decision making further complicate ethical responsibility by diffusing accountability across multiple actors, while capability gaps among small and medium enterprises intensify ethical fragility. The study contributes to the literature by framing ethical entrepreneurship as an embedded and dynamic capability within digital ecosystems and emphasising the importance of aligning entrepreneurial practices with transparent governance mechanisms and evolving social expectations to sustain trust and legitimacy.
