The Influence of Educational Unit Operational Assistance Governance and Principal Competence on the Quality of Education in Public Junior High Schools in Sidenreng Rappang Regency: The Moderating Role of Community Participation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Educational Unit Operational Assistance (BOSP) governance and principal competence on the quality of education in public junior high schools (SMPN) in Sidenreng Rappang Regency, as well as to examine the moderating role of community participation. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to teachers of public junior high schools receiving BOSP funds and were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results of the study show that BOSP governance has a positive and significant effect on the quality of education. Principal competence is also proven to have a positive and significant effect on the quality of education. In addition, community participation has a positive and significant effect on the quality of education. The moderation test results indicate that community participation is able to strengthen the effect of BOSP governance on the quality of education. However, community participation is not able to moderate the effect of principal competence on the quality of education. Therefore, the improvement of education quality in public junior high schools in Sidenreng Rappang Regency is strongly determined by transparent, accountable, effective, and efficient BOSP governance, as well as good principal competence, supported by appropriate community participation.
