Can Technology Improve Concentration? A Narrative Review (2016-2025)

Abstract

The present article conducts a narrative review of the negative observations regarding the effect of technology on the ability to concentrate, and of the alternatives that are proposed in the face of these observations. The findings demonstrate that the observations are not about the technology itself, but about the use of technological tools. In a similar vein, the available options give rise to the question of technological usage. In instances where usage is deemed appropriate, observations are made. The findings of the discussion indicate that, under optimal conditions, technological devices have the capacity to enhance cognitive function, particularly regarding the ability to concentrate.
