Abstract

Indeed, an increase in focus on inclusive pedagogies and learning environments has highlighted the importance of promoting equity in education as well as providing accessible and learner-centered pedagogical practices which can accommodate students' varying linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and communicational needs. In the case of English literature classrooms, several challenges remain in relation to inflexible curriculums, canonical pedagogies, fixed interpretations, and accessibility for students with learning disabilities. Narrative pedagogy constitutes an innovative paradigm that promotes storytelling, dialogue, interpretive reflection, multimedia literacies, and experiential learning as effective tools for enhancing inclusive participation and literary engagement. This research paper critically reviews the use of narrative pedagogy as a powerful tool for reshaping English literature lessons for learners with special needs in an inclusive environment. The review will consider the theoretical framework of narrative pedagogy as well as concepts of inclusive education. In addition, the discussion will consider the pedagogical implications of learner voice, identity construction, emotional involvement, digital stories, multimodal literacies, and cultural responsiveness. Furthermore, the review will highlight several critical barriers to inclusion and accessibility in literature classes for students with learning disabilities such as teacher preparedness issues, curriculum rigidity, accessibility, institutional factors, and lack of disability-focused pedagogical training. Finally, the review will examine future pedagogical developments including Universal Design for Learning, advanced digital education technologies powered by artificial intelligence, adaptive literacy software applications, and democratic curricula design. It is important to note that narrative pedagogy transcends instructional techniques to represent an entire educational philosophy based on principles of accessibility, inclusion, empathy, collaboration, and participation. Through the application of narrative inquiry, multimedia learning techniques, and learner-centered practices, narrative pedagogy may enhance educational participation and literary access for students with disabilities.
