A Comprehensive Review of AI-Powered Immersive Tourism Experience
Main Article Content
Abstract
AI enables enhanced immersive tourism experiences, such as personalized recommendations, instant language translation, and dynamic itinerary generation, through these features and how the world operates nowadays. Through such features, travellers can engage with this space and experience a new, deeper, and more personalized travel experience that lasts. Technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are on the rise in immersive tourism experiences. They are creating entirely immersive experiences with AI-driven personalization, which enable us to experience them as part of our total experience. Artificial intelligence and immersive technologies such as VR/AR offer immersive previews of the destination's setting, allowing tourists to interact with historical sites and experience the destination through interactive storytelling. According to AI, algorithms process user data systematically to provide users with personalized itineraries and recommendations, thereby enhancing overall satisfaction and user participation. This study seeks to investigate how one might complement artificial intelligence with suggestions and recommendations for travellers. It also covers the challenges of implementing AI technologies in tourism. Hence, the study proposes ways to mitigate the ethical concerns in AI-driven tourism. This study further emphasizes that the ethical issues regarding AI-driven tourism must be addressed through data privacy, consent, the avoidance of bias across data sources, and AI usage transparency. One should be mindful in this way when adopting sustainable practices. Methods involve, for instance, retaining a modicum of human control to save workers from losing their livelihoods, implementing AI in a sustainable manner that will produce little environmental impact, and applying laws like GDPR to protect user data.
