Emotional Intelligence, Self Concept and Academic Achievement of High School Students

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is acting as intervention tool for overall development of students especially in school environment and it is making students to response properly in differing situation and it is significantly affecting achievement in their academics, personal life and management of pressures of society in the effective way and it is also influencing their self concept considerably. The findings indicate that Self emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion, understanding of emotion and others’ emotion appraisal have significant and positive influence on academic achievement of high school students. Self emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion, others’ emotion appraisal and understanding of emotion have significant, positive and direct influence on self concept, while, self concept has significant, positive and direct influence on academic achievement of high school students. Thus, all the hypotheses are supported by the findings.
