Abstract

The implementation of administrative re-engineering is of utmost importance for institutions in many sectors globally, as it enables them to get a competitive edge. Competition within the realm of higher education necessitates that institutions adopt management strategies, such as administrative re-engineering, in order to enhance their efficacy and efficiency. The primary aim of this research was to assess the extent to which academic administrative re-engineering contributes to the enhancement of competitive advantage at the universities of the Sultanate of Oman. The descriptive analytic approach was used for this objective. The research sample included 176 academic members from Nizwa University. The investigation yielded the following primary findings: The Omani universities have undergone extensive academic administrative re-engineering, driven by substantial shifts in their visions and strategies. This has resulted in a high level of re-engineering efforts being undertaken. Concurrently, the Omani universities have achieved a moderate level of competitive advantage. This can be attributed to their commitment to delivering high-quality education and their dedication to scientific research services. These endeavours have had a positive impact on the calibre of their graduates and professors, equipping them with competitive capabilities and advantages in the labour market. The analysis of predictive abilities demonstrated that the variable pertaining to the services offered emerged as the most influential factor in forecasting competitive advantage.
