Art Education as an Approach to Developing Emotional Creativity and Social Skills among Students

Abstract

Art education is quickly becoming an important element of modern education for the emotional, social and creative development of students. The objective of this research was to discover how the art education that the study has ameliorate the emotional creativity and social skills of students. The study presumed that art activities lead to an emotionally useful, creative-thinking opportunity, communicative, cooperative, and a socially interactive opportunity for individuals. Through a descriptive analytical method, the relationship between art education, emotional creativity, and social skills was investigated. The conceptual framework highlights the educational basis of art education, emotional creativity, and artistic experiences as beneficial for social competencies. The research also looked into a number of Arab and international studies that related to drawing’s impact on emotional and social development.

In order to fulfill the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was developed and administered to the students who were enrolled in art education activities. The results showed that art education has a positive impact on emotional creativity development, as it requires students to express their feelings in original and meaningful ways. Results indicate artistic activities enhance student social skills, which cover communication, cooperation, empathy, teamwork and respect others.  Additionally, a good relationship was identified between emotional creativity and social skills, suggesting that the students with higher emotional awareness and creative expression of emotion, seem to show stronger social skills. According to the research, art education is a good educational process for the holistic development of students. It suggested for Enhancing the role of art teaching in educational curricula and encouraging the inclusion of emotional and social learning outcomes in art programmers and teaching classroom activities
