The Effect of Resonant Leadership and Work Environment on Teacher Performance with Job Satisfaction as an Intervening Variable in Lhoksumawe City

Abstract

Weak school management significantly reduces the quality of education today. Therefore, it is important to examine the influence of resonant leadership and the work environment on teacher performance, with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. Data collection in this study used an explanatory verification method and was processed using a structural equation model analysis with a partial least squares approach, processed in SmartPLS 3.0 software. The population in this study were high school teachers (SMA) in Lhoksumawe City, Aceh, with a sample of 95 respondents. The results showed that resonant leadership and the work environment can boost work enthusiasm and significantly improve teacher performance. Resonant leadership style and the work environment also significantly increase teacher job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a strong and significant effect on teacher performance. The indirect variable, resonant leadership, significantly influences teacher performance through job satisfaction. Finally, it was concluded that the work environment also significantly influences teacher performance, mediated by job satisfaction in Lhoksumawe City.
