Main Article Content
Abstract
Language, communication and education are important tools for advancing sustainable development that help to build environmental awareness, drive behaviour change and foster public engagement in sustainable development activities. With global environmental challenges growing in severity, there is a need for effective communication to promote individual and community environmental responsibilities and to encourage environmental literacy. This research explores the role of language and communication in sustainable development in the context of education, media, digital platforms, public discussion and community involvement. This study follows a qualitative research approach and utilises a literature review, content analysis, and discourse analysis to examine language, communication, education and sustainability. The analysis emphasises the importance of communicating environmental issues to the public, making it accessible, inclusive, and culture-sensitive. The results also show that educational communication enhances environmental literacy, and digital communication increases the outreach and impact of environmental campaigns to a wide range of people. The study suggests that language, communication and education can be very effective tools in creating awareness and stimulating behaviour change regarding environmental issues. They can bolster community involvement, facilitate sustainability efforts and make a positive impact on sustainable development targets if they are utilized effectively.
