Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Intelligent Automation in Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Directions
Main Article Content
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and intelligent automation are revolutionizing higher education by redefining teaching, learning, assessment, and institutional management processes. The digital transformation of universities has required a deeper comprehension of the opportunities and challenges posed by these technologies. The research examines the influence of AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation in higher education, evaluating their effects on educational innovation, efficiency, and student learning outcomes. This study employs a qualitative analysis of secondary data derived from academic articles, policy reports, institutional publications, and other relevant literature concerning educational technology and digital transformation. The results indicate that AI and ML facilitate personalized learning, adaptive assessment, predictive analytics, and data-driven decision-making, whereas intelligent automation enhances administrative efficiency and institutional effectiveness. Nonetheless, challenges persist that require attention, including data privacy, cybersecurity, ethics, the digital divide, infrastructure, and faculty preparedness for effective implementation. The study concludes that artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent automation possess significant potential to revolutionize higher education and facilitate sustainable educational development. To maximize the potential of these emerging technologies, higher education institutions must enhance digital infrastructure, implement ethical governance frameworks, and allocate resources for faculty development.
