Medical Rehabilitation Approaches in Special Education: A Multidisciplinary Framework
Main Article Content
Abstract
Medical rehabilitation is crucial in developing the functional, cognitive and social capabilities of individuals with special needs. Nevertheless, conventional methods tend to work independently of the education system resulting in disjointed and less functional interventions. This research paper suggests a multidisciplinary model to incorporate the use of medical rehabilitation to special education to offer a holistic and learner-focused solution. The model integrates therapeutic measures, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, with the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), assistive technologies, and real-time monitoring tools. The offered model has a layered structure with the interdependent layers of input, processing, technology integration, output, and feedback mechanisms, which allow rehabilitation to be continuous and adaptive. The experimental analysis has been performed using various case studies on the students with motor, communication, and cognitive problems. The findings showed that there was a significant improvement in major performance indicators such as motor skills (30-45), communication efficiency (35-50), cognitive performance (25-40), behavioral stability and academic performance. The comparative analysis of the proposed framework and the traditional ones revealed its superiority in terms of personalization, multidisciplinary collaboration, and optimization of the outcomes. Monitoring and real-time alteration of intervention plans were easier with the integration of AI-driven analytics and assistive technologies, which resulted in more efficient and scalable rehabilitation outcomes. Moreover, the framework will encourage the cooperation of healthcare professionals, educators, psychologists, and caregivers, which will provide overall support to learners. In general, this study will help to develop inclusive education by filling the gap between healthcare and pedagogy. The offered framework is scalable and adaptive to offer effective rehabilitation in special education, and eventually enhance the quality of life and independence of people with disabilities.
